The Coronavirus continues to concern us all. Last week at one of our locations, a child in care tested positive for COVID-19. All affected parents and staff have already been informed.

In addition, it is known that a family member of an employee or family member of children in care has tested positive for COVID-19 at a few locations. In all the above cases, the children or staff member immediately (preventively) went into home quarantine.

To reduce the flow of information, we are informing you in this letter what you can expect from us:

  • If a child or a staff member in our care has symptoms related to COVID-19, we recommend staying home and having a test done. Person may not return to shelter until the person is at least 24 hours complaint free;

  • We will inform you if a child in our care or staff member tests positive for COVID-19 and take the following steps:
    1. Child or employee remain in home quarantine until person is symptom free for at least 24 hours;
    2. We will contact the regional GGD immediately about the next steps;
    3. All affected parents and staff will be informed.

  • You will not receive any communication from us if a family member of a child or family member of employee in our care has tested positive for COVID-19. Child or employee do (preventively) go into home quarantine for 10 days.

Children and staff without complaints can come to care as usual. Well we stress to everyone to stay alert for symptoms consistent with COVID-19, such as:

  • cold symptoms; nasal cold, runny nose, sneezing, sore throat
  • (light) coughing
  • sudden loss of smell and/or taste (without nasal congestion)
  • shortness of breath/shortness of breath
  • elevation or fever (= temperature above 38 degrees)
  • with symptoms, stay home and avoid contact with others. Take
    by phone
    contact the family doctor or public health department. If necessary, testing for COVID-19 is performed.

Our employees also remain extra vigilant about
our hygiene policy
in line with the guidelines from the RIVM.

We understand that there are concerns, among you as parents and also among our staff and therefore inform those involved immediately, where necessary.
