The app complements the existing services provided by the Tax Office/Benefits. More extensive operations will continue to go through the Toeslagen.nl website. These include things like applying for child care subsidies or permanently stopping them.
Through the app, parents can easily submit information that affects the amount of their child care benefit. The app is designed for common changes. These include, for example, the income of the parent(s) and the number of hours a child attends day care. The capabilities of the app are gradually being expanded.

Experiences welcome

The app has been tested in recent months by a group of about 200 parents. The Belastingdienst/Toeslagen is especially curious about the experiences of new users in this first phase. Parents can provide feedback on the app through the Tax Office website. There is also the opportunity to provide feedback through the app stores. Based on this, the Belastingdienst/Toeslagen can further expand the app in new versions.

The Childcare Allowance app was developed in cooperation with interest groups BOinK and For Working Parents, industry organizations in childcare and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment.

Child care organizations help

Child care organizations will share data with the Belastingdienst/Toeslagen on a monthly basis. The Belastingdienst/Toeslagen uses this data to send parents a notification via the app if it appears that their data is no longer current.

Some parents may receive these notifications starting in September. Starting next year, this will apply to all parents. Child care organizations are required to submit data to the Tax Office/Benefits every month starting in 2021.

The Child Care Allowance app is available for free and suitable for iOS and Android.
